Everything DiSC® is a personality assessment built for the workplace. It describes four basic styles, D, i, S and C, and shows each person where they fall and what that means for the way they work with others.
The Base Experience is where every Everything DiSC® on Catalyst™ program begins: one assessment, a personal profile each learner keeps, and a shared language your whole organization can use. Everything DiSC® Management adds the manager's layer: how each manager directs and delegates, motivates, and develops the people on their team, and how they work with their own manager.
A short overview of the Everything DiSC® model and the research behind it: the assessment is tested and retested for accuracy, engagement, and learner satisfaction.
WHY ORGANIZATIONS CHOOSE THE BASE EXPERIENCE WITH MANAGEMENT
Great managers aren't born. They're developed.
Most managers know what needs to be done. Fewer know how to adapt their approach to get the best from each person. The Base Experience helps managers understand their own style and how it shapes communication, collaboration, and trust. Everything DiSC® Management then applies that insight to the everyday work of managing: directing and delegating, motivating, developing each team member, and working with their own manager.
Delegation that fits the person
Managers learn how much direction each team member needs, and adjust how they assign work and check in.
Motivation tailored to each person
Managers see what drives each direct report and build an environment that keeps people engaged.
Development with intention
Managers spot growth opportunities and coach each person in the way that person responds to, without micromanaging.
A better working relationship upward
Managers also learn how to work with their own manager: how to communicate up, ask for support, and stay aligned.
CHAPTER 1 · EVERYTHING DiSC® FUNDAMENTALS
Understand yourself: what drives you and what drains you
Imagine you are halfway through a project meeting. One colleague wants a decision now, another wants to hear from everyone first, and a third keeps asking for the data. Nobody is wrong. Each person is working from a different style. Everything DiSC® Fundamentals shows each learner their own style and explains why they react the way they do.
1
Everyone is a blend of all four styles
Nobody is only a D or only an S. Each person uses all four styles, and one, two, or even three usually stand out.
2
No style is better than another
All DiSC® styles and priorities are equally valuable. Every style brings strengths, and every style has blind spots.
3
Not a box: a place along several continua
You lean more toward one side of some continua and less toward others. Close to the edge, in between, or near the center: a dot in the center is no better than one on the edge, and vice versa.
4
Style is one influence among many
Life experiences, education, and maturity also shape how you work. DiSC® describes tendencies, not limits.
Two questions sit under the model
Question 1 · Pace
Fast-paced and outspoken, or cautious and reflective?
Some people move quickly, speak up, and act with confidence. Others take their time, think before they speak, and weigh the options. Most people sit somewhere in between.
Question 2 · Focus
Questioning and skeptical, or accepting and warm?
Some people are logic-focused and objective, and they challenge ideas. Others are people-focused and empathizing, and they look for agreement. Put the two questions together and you get the four DiSC® styles.
Where do you think you are?
Slide each dot to where you think you naturally sit. There is no right answer.
DiSC
Move the sliders to place your dot.
A starting guess only. The Everything DiSC® assessment places your dot precisely from your answers.
Tap a style to see how it shows up at work:
D · Dominance
People with a strong D style tend to be: Direct, firm, strong-willed, forceful.
Know your prioritiesWhich of the eight priorities, from Results to Stability, shape your choices every day.
Know your natural paceWhether you push forward fast or step back to reflect, and when that helps or hurts.
Know your blind spotsHow others are likely to see you, so you can adjust before friction starts.
CHAPTER 2 · EVERYTHING DiSC WORKPLACE®
Understand everyone else, including people you haven't met yet
Everything DiSC Workplace® takes the learner from "this is my style" to "this is how I work with you." It analyzes what motivates and what stresses the learner, and then what motivates and stresses each of the other styles.
That second half is where behavior changes. A learner who knows that a colleague is energized by quick wins, or drained by constant change, stops taking friction personally and adjusts the approach.
Twelve styles, one team: each person on your team sits somewhere on this map, and Workplace® shows each of them how to work with the others.
Work with any stylePractical ways to present an idea, disagree, and ask for help with each of the four styles.
Lower the stressSpot what drains you and your colleagues, and change the situation instead of blaming the person.
Build a better working relationshipSpecific steps to improve one relationship that matters to you this month.
CHAPTER 3 · EVERYTHING DiSC® MANAGEMENT
Every manager has a style. Every direct report needs something different.
Imagine you are handing off a new project to two people on your team. One wants the goal and the deadline, and then wants to be left alone. The other wants clear guidelines and to know you will be there if something goes wrong. Give both the same hand-off, and one feels micromanaged while the other feels left on their own. Everything DiSC® Management shows each manager their own management style, and how to adapt their approach to each person they manage.
An introduction to Everything DiSC® Management: how managers adapt delegation, feedback, and motivation to each direct report.
Three management principles
1
Your style shapes how you manage
Your DiSC® style has a strong influence on how you approach management. Life experience, education, and maturity also play a role.
2
No style is better than another
People with every style can be great managers, even when they approach the role differently.
3
Adapt to the people you manage
Whatever your own style, you need to adapt to the styles of the people you manage.
The Management map
The eight priorities around the circle show what different managers tend to emphasize in their work, and what the people they manage value. Each learner's profile places their dot and comfort zone on this map, then uses it in every part of the Management section.
Tap a part of the profile to see what each style needs:

REAL INTERACTIVITY
Where Everything DiSC® on Catalyst™ truly shines
Catalyst™ turns self-understanding and understanding of others into tools people use, in a practical and visual way. Learners come back to it in the moments that matter: before a meeting, when a new person joins, or when a project team gets stuck.
Your Colleagues
Pick any colleague and see your two styles side by side: what you have in common, where you are likely to misread each other, and tips for working together. Learners use it before a first meeting, a handover, or a difficult conversation.
Your Groups
Put any set of people on one map and see the group's style mix at a glance. Conversation Starters then give the group prompts for getting to know each other, making decisions together, and communicating clearly.
Group Continua
See where each member falls on spectrums such as logic versus feelings, or realities versus possibilities. The group spots its natural tilt and the perspectives it tends to leave out when it decides.
Get Advice
Ask for advice on a real situation, such as building a relationship, working through a tension, or getting buy-in, and receive tips written for your style and the other person's.
Learner privacy
Learners who prefer not to share their style can opt out from the Privacy tab in Catalyst™ and change the setting at any time.

HOW IT WORKS
Four steps, and the fourth is where the value is
1
Order and set up
Order the learners you need. Symphony 100 sets up your administrator account on Catalyst™ and adds the credits, so you are ready to invite people.
2
Tell your learners why, then invite them
People engage when they know the reason. Communicate with your learners through the platform before they start:
why the organization is doing this, and what the team session will look like
when to complete the assessment, and that there are no right or wrong answers
who will see their results, and how learner privacy works
From your administrator account you can see who has completed the assessment, and send reminders and notices to those who haven't.
3
Each learner discovers their style
Learners complete the assessment, explore their profile on Catalyst™, and download their PDF report.
4
Gather the team
This is the step that turns individual insight into a team that works better together. In a facilitated session, the team shares styles, motivators and stressors, and agrees how it wants to work. Choose who facilitates below.
How big a group? There is no minimum. Groups of 10 to 12 participants work best: everyone has time to take part and stay engaged. Larger groups are possible, but the value for each person goes down as the group grows. Alone or in pairs, learners lose the chance to apply the group and team concepts right away.
THE REAL VALUE
Bring your team together
“The true value of Everything DiSC® comes from bringing the team together. It is not just about learning about yourself. It is about learning about others: people you know, people you don't know, and people you don't know yet. Understanding what motivates and stresses people, with a basic understanding of style underneath, can make all the difference in the world. It also gives everyone a communication tool to talk about it and be on the same page.”
