Run Everything DiSC® Productive Conflict training with your own facilitator

The Everything DiSC® Productive Conflict Facilitation Kit empowers teams to harness the power of workplace conflict. Conflict is an unavoidable part of working relationships, and when conflict is managed constructively, conflict can become a catalyst for innovation and trust.

Everything DiSC® Productive Conflict is a classroom training and personalized learning experience that increases self-awareness around conflict behaviors. By combining the personalized insights of DiSC® with the proven science of cognitive behavioral theory, the program helps each participant respond to the uncomfortable and unavoidable challenges of workplace conflict. Rather than focus on a step-by-step process for conflict resolution, participants gain personalized techniques to curb destructive behaviors, so conflict can become more productive and improve workplace relationships and results.

How a conflict goes wrong, and how a person changes the response

THE CONFLICT

A colleague pushes back

A colleague challenges your proposal in front of the team.

AUTOMATIC THOUGHT

A thought arrives first

If they push me, I’ll push back harder.

NO PAUSE

The thought drives the behavior

The automatic thought and the emotion around the thought push the person toward a knee-jerk response.

DESTRUCTIVE RESPONSE

Arguing

The exchange centers more on winning than on finding the best solution.

FIRST STEP BACK, THEN REFRAME

A different thought

Maybe they don’t realize how aggressively they’re coming across.

PRODUCTIVE RESPONSE

A chosen response

The person is back in control and chooses a productive response, such as listening or determining the root of the problem.

Symphony 100 illustration of the model in the Everything DiSC® Productive Conflict profile. The two thoughts are examples from Wiley's sample profile for the D style.

Three questions for reframing. Is this thought actually valid? Am I overreacting or exaggerating the problem? Is there another way I could look at the situation?

THE MODULES

Three modules and two optional activities

Each module builds on the DiSC® model, guiding participants through self-discovery, practical skill-building and planning. Choose a module to see what the module covers.

MODULE 1

DiSC® in conflict

Participants explore the DiSC® model and how their DiSC® styles shape their responses to conflict. Through guided activities, participants identify the underlying priorities and motivators that influence their behavior during challenging interactions.

MODULE 2

Destructive responses

Participants explore the automatic thoughts and triggers that lead to destructive conflict behaviors. Participants identify common pitfalls, such as defensiveness or avoidance, and learn to recognize early signs of destructive responses.

MODULE 3

Changing your response

Participants learn strategies for reframing destructive behaviors and engaging in more productive responses, and practice the techniques in real-world scenarios. Each participant creates a personalized plan for handling conflict.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY

DiSC® Conflict Map

Participants use a visual tool to map conflict behaviors, which shows how different styles interact during moments of tension.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITY

Comparison Report

The activity uses the Everything DiSC® Comparison Report to analyze similarities, differences and potential friction points between two people, so both people can collaborate more productively.

A guide, not a stopwatch. The Facilitator's Guide is a guide that facilitators adapt: to the group, to the schedule, and to the conflicts the team actually faces.

PARTICIPANT PROFILES

Each participant needs an Everything DiSC® Productive Conflict Profile

The Everything DiSC® Productive Conflict Profile helps participants improve self-awareness around conflict behaviors. In the 22-page profile, participants explore the destructive and productive conflict behaviors of each DiSC® style, learn how to manage their responses to conflict situations, and gain personalized communication strategies for engaging in productive conflict with colleagues.

The profile is sold separately from the kit. Everything DiSC® Productive Conflict Profile →
